I am currently working for SOS BC as a youth worker in the Transition to Adulthood program. Ever since I was young I have had a passion for supporting those who were facing various barriers. I worked as a camp counsellor for several years, which is where I discovered how in need of support and care some children and youth are. I have also worked for the community with individuals of various disabilities for over 3 years. I am very passionate about blending my work with children and youth with nature and adventure-based therapeutic activities. I believe that every child and youth should have the support of a caring adult and access to nature and healing.
While completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Youth Care from University of The Fraser Valley, I did a practicum with SOS. I was instantly drawn to the caring team of staff here and the passion for the work they were accomplishing. When the opportunity came about to stay on as a youth worker, I couldn’t say no.
Why I love my job: “I love my job at SOS BC because I know I am able to make some sort of difference for even one child or youth. I love that I can use my own life experiences and God-given passions to support another person and help promote success and independence. I feel blessed to be able to share this with the children, youth, and families I work with here at SOS BC.”
