Her heritage is through Sinixt and Celtic Nations. Her traditional forever name is Inika.
The Village model is important as it serves to keep sibling children together as a family. In traditional Indigenous Villages, families receive support from other Village members. Children need to be raised with their families and culture. The lessons are that we learn skills together and our spirituality strengths us.
Christine joined the board in 2016. She brings to the Board of Directors years of non-profit board experience, wisdom, energy, Indigenous teachings and protocols, and diverse employment including government, special events, social service, education, and community work.
Her passion for building healthy communities and helping others developed at an early age. She initiated a community development project in London, Ontario in the 1980s. As President of Lower Fraser Valley Aboriginal Society (2011-2015), she was a catalyst for the Society’s growth and development.
Since 2016, she serves as a STAR Elder with Ministry of Family Services Circle 5. Currently, as an SOS BC board member, she serves as Secretary.
