Yoga for Hope
Saturday, 25 February 2012 - 7:30am

The first Yoga for Hope event was held in 2005 as a parting gift to the community of Waterloo from Yoga instructor Beth Sukha-Barker (née Sellars). Beth taught Yoga at HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre for many years. She conceptualized and organized the event before moving to Vancouver and has remained instrumental in the continued planning of the annual event. Beth has returned to Waterloo each year to help out at the event and teach a class. But 2012 marks the expansion of the event to B.C.! Beth will be organizing the Surrey, B.C. event with the help of local instructors. Barbara Waque will organize and chair the Waterloo event for 2012. Yoga for Hope is held on the last Saturday of February each year. Since the event started over $8o,ooo.oo has been raised for HopeSpring. The Surrey event will benefit SOS Children’s Village BC.

Yoga is a path of spiritual growth and healing on all levels. So as we practise, we heal ourselves and as we practise together we heal each other and as we practise with dedication to others we heal the world. It's such a profoundly simple path.

Let's join together.

Date: Saturday, February 25, 2012
